Enjoy the warm temperatures of winter 2015 so far but real winter is not far away, and “Winter Chill” is the next concert of the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra’s 37th season, and the first concert of the new year: save the date: January 9th at 7:30 p.m. (snowdate: the 10th at 3:00)
The program features Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” Suite No. 2, “Winter” from Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” (featuring violinist Lili Sarayah) and Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 3 in C major
The concert takes place once again at The Woodstock Playhouse, and tickets are available online from the Playhouse or at the door on the day of the concert. Admission is $20, $18 for seniors, $5 students and free for children & students accompanied by an adult
In February, on Valentine’s Day afternoon, the orchestra will return to Quimby Theater at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge with a program of “Romance” featuring pianist Hiroko Sakurazawa playing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, Rachmaninoff’s haunting “Vocalise” with returning soloist, soprano Kimberly Kahan (featured with the orchestra last spring in Copland’s “Old American Songs”), and the orchestra playing Tchaikovsky’s brilliant “Romeo & Juliet” Fantasy-Overture. Watch this space for updates on that concert!
